My wife and I decided to go out of town for one night, and she chose this place for the location of being in the heart of old town Placerville. The stay was a unique experience. The old elevator was awesome to ride in. The building itself, was absolutely amazing to look at, let alone interact with. Something like 200 years old. Awesome. We will be staying here again. Very soon.

Just got back from here after a three day visit. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Carli. What a sweetheart! She was so pleasant, personable and helpful. She helped take out bags to the second oldest working elevator west of the Mississippi and we settled in to an historic hotel. In some ways, it shows its age and its well kept in others. Cherry wood throughout much of it. They give you a parking pass free if charge. Carli shared some stories about this place being haunted. She’s the reason that we’d come back. Also got to know Katie, another wonderful lady who works there. We spent much of our time playing games in the lobby so that we could hang out with Katie and Karli. This place is within a short walk of great shops and restaurants. I highly recommend it.

We've stayed here 4 times over the last 2 years. This hotel is a beautiful historic gem, and one of our favorite hotels to stay at. While it is a very old building, there are modern amenities like microwaves and tvs. The elevator is the coolest part. Each room is named after a person or event important to the town and has its own history. The furniture is antique, but the mattress and pillows are new and comfortable. The lobby and the stairwell are great places to take photos. Everything is always clean and the receptionist is always friendly. It's only rated a 4 because there's no breakfast or pool, which are handy things to have with kids. But with it being in the middle of Apple Hill, there's plenty to do. If you love history, you'll love this hotel.

My boyfriend and I just returned from a 3 night stay at this historic hotel. It is such a great place and what made it even better was Carly and Katie that work the front desk. While we had more interaction with Carly, Katie was great too. Carly was so knowledgeable about the hotel and it's history. She also treated us like old friends that have known each other for years. We told her she is the reason we will return there because of her and that is true. We played games in the lobby and got the chance to know the girls and about the hotel. Hotel is close to shopping and restaurants and we walked to all of them. This is a hidden gem with fascinating history and Carly and Katie are gems too. Hope to visit again.
