We had two queen beds. BOTH had unwashed linens. Then I spoke to another guest and she said her bedding had unwashed menstruation blood and black sock lint. Totally unacceptable. I honestly can't even believe we stayed but it was so late and we were so tired from traveling. We used a sheet from the cabinet and hoped for the best, but that maid should be fired and banned. The rest of the staff was great, but the housekeeping is single handedly ruining this place. The hotel clerks and the lady running the breakfast were great! Yes, it was very noisy with kids. Yes, the in room sofa was grimy. Yes, the outlet on the nightstand didn't work. Yes, breakfast was a great bonus! Yes, the rest of the place seemed pretty good and the carpet in the room seemed surprisingly clean. Yes it was comparatively inexpensive. But I'd gladly pay more for a better experience. You can't put a price on sleeping in filth.

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for five nights and found it to be a good value for the money. The hotel was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the staff was friendly and accommodating.

Upon check-in, I was initially assigned an ADA-accessible room. While I appreciate the design considerations for accessibility, the layout took space from the living area, leaving no separate chair for relaxing or reading—only the bed or the desk chair were available for seating. After the first night, the staff was very accommodating and was able to move me to a room that better suited my needs.

One area that was a bit frustrating was the billing process. Charges were applied to my credit card three different times by the night audit throughout my stay and concluded two days before checkout. This was unusual compared to my past hotel experiences, and unfortunately, there was no one available at the front desk in the mornings to clarify how the charges were being processed. Additionally, I was unable to receive a receipt at checkout due to computer issues, which added to the confusion.

I did not partake in the breakfast, so I cannot comment on that aspect of the stay. However, I did note that the hotel, like many others now, uses multi-user bathroom products (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soap). While I understand this shift is largely for cost-cutting and sustainability purposes, I personally prefer single-use toiletries due to hygiene concerns and choose to bring my own.

Overall, my experience at this Holiday Inn Express was positive, and I would consider staying again. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the staff was friendly and helpful when available. With a little more clarity on billing and front desk availability, it would be an even smoother experience.

Hotel is very convenient to the I-5 hwy. Lots of gas stations and restaurants nearby. Staff were all very friendly and helped with any issues. Age of the building is beginning to show. The room gutters have weeds about 12" tall growing out of them. Our room had a toilet that wouldn't stop running. The shower head was only 6' high (why?). Beds were fine. Pull-out had no sheets, but they were provided. Breakfast was great - the cinnamon buns were awesome and enjoyed! Lots of breakfast options. Pool was out of commission. Fitness room was pretty basic. If we were staying in the area again, I'd probably try another hotel as there are many options.

I had two separate reservations for a one night stay on March 1st. Both rooms had issues. My elderly parents stayed in Room 206. After showering, my mother was unable to open the glass shower door and was subsequently stuck inside the shower. It could have been a very dangerous situation. She had to call out for help, and luckily, my father was in the room. The shower door was misaligned on the track. My father had to gently pry the door open from the bottom to get it to move.

Room 221 had a large amount of mold growing behind the wallpaper. The wallpaper was rippled and loose in the corner, clearly caused by the moisture and mold. You can see the photos that I have attached.

Upon checkout, my parents spoke to the manager, whom assured them that we would receive a refund for our troubles. They, and I, double-checked with the front desk agent and he confirmed that we will be receiving a refund.

On March 12 and 13, I phoned Holiday Inn Express & Suites Elk Grove West I-5 to discuss a $60 charge I discovered on my credit card bill. I mistakenly thought that they had charged me, and after clarifying, learned that the charge was from a different hotel. The manager was very abrupt on the phone, and while she did not hang up one me, she continued to repeat the same answer in quick succession that I was not charged and to call my credit card company.

Additionally, I also inquired about the refund amount that was promised at the time of check out. Because I booked with a split cash and points payment, the manager said that it was not possible for them to refund me and that I needed to speak with IHG. I asked why I was told we would be getting a refund from her and the front desk agent at check out, but she responded that they cannot do anything and that I needed to speak with IHG.

I called IHG and the representative I spoke with said they cannot issue a refund since I had an issue with the hotel itself. IHG informed me that the hotel should have rectified the issues and issued a cash refund for me. Because I was calling after the fact, IHG had no recourse or documentation that there was an issue with both of my reservations and was promised a refund for both stays.
