Customer service was awesome. This is an old historical building so lots of things are old and quirky. As soon as you walk into the lobby, you feel like you went into a time warp to the past. I loved the uniqueness of the room. The owner went above and beyond to accommodate us. We even ended up staying an extra night.

This is not a full service hotel. It is a historical building that is in the process of being renovated to it's former glory and into the future. There is an opportunity to B&B on occasion, so keep your eyes open. The building is amazing and the living care of the work done can be seen at every turn. Soon, the ballroom will again host music and it would be a boon to Dunsmuir should the kitchen and dining room begin service again. If you see the building open, take the time to go in, look around, and appreciate history coming to life around you.

This hotel is absolutely incredible! Mark, the owner, and Bonnie, the manager are so welcoming and friendly and go above and beyond to make your stay the best it can be.

When my friend and I walked into the Hemmingway Suite, we were overwhelmed with delight! We were transported back to the 1940's in just a few steps time. Every item in every room is chosen with so much love and care and I am blown away by how much attention goes into EVERY. SINGLE. DETAIL.

Mark and Bonnie then offered us a tour of all the open rooms on the floor. They are incredible! The Oriental and Jane Austen were my favorites. We booked the Hemingway, but they offered the chance to change rooms if we liked another one more.

Another amazing plus of this hotel, is that the bathrooms are stocked with all natural shower gel. One of my few pet peeves in life that how many hotels put chemical laden soaps and lotions in the bathroom. This shower gel was so awesome that I took one for the road!

I cannot recommend this place enough. Every detail and every interaction with Mark and Bonnie was incredible. It was hard to leave! I can't wait to come back just for the experience of staying at The Dunsmuir Hotel.

My stay here was at the very early stages as the hotel was getting ready to open up under the new owner and management. Only few rooms were available and were listed temporarily with the best pricing at the time when I found the room on AirBnB. The hotel had a very unique deco and feel to me. Pretty much the 1st think I asked the manager as she was leading me up the stairs to my room if in fact there is some activity happening in the hotel. I remember her jaw opening as she stood a step behind me with the look in her eyes which was shocked! She said what makes you say that? I told her that I have a natural ability to pick up on that. She said is that a problem? I told her not for me. For as long as I stay there there will be no activity that will take place and I hope that is ok with her, I told her. She smiled and took me to my room.

The rooms are all themed decorated and the staff was incredible friendly and accommodating… For I was the only guest in the hotel I got the most exclusive tour of the hotel.
If you are skirmish of places where there is “some” metaphysical activity, do not be hesitant to stay here.
I literally have checked in here the day after “Ghost Hunters” where shooting footage with detection devices. Some of the crew was so scared of the experience they had, they didn’t walk back in as the rest of their team finished filming.

As I am known to have have a “calming effect on those kind of activities” you are lucky not to stay here with me at the same time. Because, if you hoping to “experience” yourself the activities of the spirits you may not do so.
I have stayed here more than I have planned and during my entire stay there was not one peep of “activity”

But, as I said I am a person who lives in self mastery and I have control over my bodies resonance, it’s relation to its environment including loose spirits that might be lingering around.
I personally never got to experience all the excitement that others talk about and the hotel manager and the crew will testify to that “silence and calm” for as long as I remained there.
If you are visiting the area you HAVE to stay there. Make sure to check with me before you go, to verify that I will not be there 🙂
I promise you will NOT regret the experience!
Can’t wait for my next visit here...

This hotel claims it's haunted but the scariest thing about it is how disgustingly dirty it is.

I had booked a room on my way up to Oregon and arrived late at night looking forward to some much needed sleep. When I arrived to my room, I was horrified that it had not been cleaned before my arrival. There were gross stains on the bed sheets , trash full of hair and who knows what else, dirty dishes, and dirty towels. There was no one on site and no one responded to my messages. I got a refund from Airbnb immediately (they saw the pictures I documented and sent to them and said that was cause alone for an immediate refund) and left to go find another hotel at 11 pm.

Do not waste your time - this place is unhygienic which is even more absurd during the pandemic. Don’t be fooled by the 4-5 star ratings like I was. It’s clear now that those are fake.

It was lovely. Super cool bring a HEATED blanket. if you come in the winter. But it was cheap drive up parking. And the have many hiking trials that are so gorgeous. You'll keep coming back

Their keeping the best of it's history here. Very interesting to see the 2nd floor to go downstairs. The town calls it the "upside down hotel". The setting of the 1900s. Lovely people here. This little town also has a railroad along side it. So don't be surprised for the load cho-cho coming through.
