If you are not comfortable with older locations / camping style accommodations, this location may not be for you. The cabins are quite old and could definitely use some updates. There are limited plugs, for example, and the air condioners are a bit dated, so they struggle a bit when it's really warm, but did okay. However, I've now stayed here twice, and you really can't beat the value. The hosts are super friendly and it's a very relaxing stay.||Again, if you are overly picky, it may not be for you, but if you like sitting on a porch relaxing, it's a great place to go and if I'm in the area I will stay again.

We absolutely adored our stay at the Madrona Motel and Motor Court. Vintage charm, cute and cozy! Clean sheets and room! Great views and close to avenue of the giants.

Best place to stay. The owners were incredible. Comfortable, clean rooms. They even had coffee for us, and hot chocolate ready when we returned from the snow. I miss this place! This was our "home away from home" whenever we visited Northern California.

A cute quaint hole in the wall place that is dated way way back in time. We stayed in Unit #5 the sink water took forever to get hot, but the shower water never warmed up after 15 minutes, I settled for a bird bath. The beds were uncomfortable and squeaky. This room is much more suited for 1 person than a couple. Theres mold in the shower and the interior updates were made in the cheapest way possible.
You get one blanket and 3 pillows per bed. We were so cold in the middle of the night and there was NOTHING EXTRA TO GET WARM WITH.
This place is bare bones accommodation! A place to wash up and try to sleep. If you can sleep.
The road was washed out on the way coming in. There were multiple detours and the owner had no capacity to communicate which exit to take to get there. We were put in harms way just trying to get there. Late at night, in the dark, on motorcycles and she was NO help and wouldn't answer the phone. The office is closed and the exterior of the place is not maintained.

The hosts met us with smores and a campfire, even though we rolled in at 10 pm. They then stayed up to chat with us as if we were old friends and recommended some wonderful places to eat that came in very handy on our travels the next day (Avenue Cafe and Larrupin). The room was very cozy, but with just the two of us, and being out sightseeing all day, it was perfect. The bathroom had it's old original charm but was pretty clean (much cleaner than other places we have stayed at recently!). Overall a very positive experience. For a couple traveling to see the Redwoods, I would highly recommend it.

Cute, vintage motel with clean beds and a mini fridge. Dated yes, but that was part of the charm. Turquoise and sunshine tiles, wood trim and floors from a generation ago. We opened windows for awhile to freshen up the room and 101 was far enough away that we ended up sleeping with them open, no problems. Service was excellent, including a phone call checking in on us when we were later than expected.

The owners were just wonderful. They were very friendly and had lots of tips for seeing the Redwoods. They even brought out s'mores to cook around the fire pit. The room itself was in need of much updating and a good cleaning. Mattresses and bathroom need replaced. Quaint place to stay as long as you do not expect anything newer than 1960's.

A dated set of rustic cottages in a great location. Our two rooms (5 and 7) were nice size, clean with adequate linens and amenities -- bed sheets were a little rough but not uncomfortable. There is a large stain on bathroom floor of #5 probably from a prior water leak; not a problem but unsightly enough to detract from otherwise OK decor. Checkin was a breeze. No housekeeping service was provided; I didn't ask about it (we were only there two nights )but our hostess was clear on check-in that if we needed anything she was available around the clock. Wireless available worked perfectly. Restaurant and market only a 100yards away. Very reasonably priced.
