The manager Carrie is just the kindest person in the world. Such a great stay. This was my home for a while after my house recently burned down and I couldn't have been in a better place. Lots of really awesome people that were staying there the whole time I was, so great neighbors and a safe place to be. Didn't see any funny business either, lol. But seriously, thank you Carrie for talking with me and having such a great heart and giving me some ideas do help me get back on my feet. Best prices I could find in Chico, too. Cheers!

Druggy people are all over this hotel. People are actually LIVING there as a home, and from what I've seen, these people are dirty, use drugs of one kind or another, and the rooms have the very bare necessities in them. No phone. No AC. Heaters only in a few rooms. It's located in a good place as far as most places in Chico are easily accessible from it.

Our group leader had selected this motel, and after reading reviews, we almost cancelled our reservation. But the price was right. We had room 48, which was toward the back of the motel, down the side yard. The room size was adequate, with a king size bed. The bathroom was small, and had some broken tiles and a weird shower head. The shower tiles were stained, but clean. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The towels were the tiniest towels I have ever had in a motel. Coffee was available at Starbuck's next door, since the office didn't open earlier enough to partake of their coffee.||If you must have an up to date motel, don't stay here. But if you want a good deal, like charm and nice people, the Matador is satisfactory.

What a great deal! We loved our sweet room with the the tile floor, huge closet and old fashioned dressing table area. The bathrooms were original retro with beautiful tile. The pool was lovely and surrounded by big palm trees - they even had a couple of floaties which was great. It was so hot in Chico but our room was air conditioned and right across from the pool. Please don't change a thing here. Best $60 room we ever had.

The Matador attracted us when driving by with its mexican style. So we turned around and booked a room. We like the architecture and the style with colored tiles at the walls and floor tiles as well that kept the room cool. It is really old, has a minimum of Equipment, some tiles are broken, the shower is dripping and you cannot switch off the a/c. But it is really very clean, the people are so friendly and they have a pool. And the beds are new and very comfortable. I think it was a good deal for 66 $. we stayed for 2 nights. It is something special compared to faceless hotel chains.

Been here for a while now, haven't had any issues really. It is an older building could use an uplifting remodel, but personally I love the style of it. Granted the rooms can be either too hot or too cold but I make due. Definitely a radar "hot" location with the constant traffic. I give props to the owners as they are older and they really do try to keep their long term guests in check and try to rid the motel of that traffic.
This motel is dog friendly; I haven't had any issues between mine and others, but I have heard some commotion between some.
All in all other than cockroaches (depending on the room); this motel is to my liking, granted I am not fancy high class by any means so this probably is not to most peoples appeal.
But when you have a place for your family and your dog for relatively cheap.. and the owners work with the situation (my case anyway) and you just stick to your self; turns out to be a very nice place.

I've been here for close to two weeks. Today's date is Sunday Feb 5 2023. So far ,so good, I'll kll keep you posted as ,I may be staying another week.

There appears to be removing renovation going on , and the new rooms look very inviting. As far as the pool...it's winter.

When it comes to cleanliness ,it's clean , no roaches. Huge walking closet big enough to store a bycycle. I feel absolutely safe and secure have not seen any of those make you wanna cross the street when you see em coming types, no criminal activity or things of that nature. Not only does my door come equip with a keydblocking door nob the dead bolt lock with key also.
Management have gone above and beyond to accommodate my needs . Shout out to. K and V
Keep it up and they're going to have to start adding a zero or two next to those checks..

I haven't stayed here so can't really comment on any personal experience but my friend was staying here after being evacuated from Paradise and they treated him well and he was happy with the room. I would have given them five stars but he did say they had electrical problems causing his heater not to work properly. So it's not the best place in town but friendly and clean. It's also not as expensive as others so it all works out.
