Read all the reviews, they are accurate. No breakfast served even though it’s listed, no A/C, 2 towels very thin, lots of light bulbs out. No staff to be found, in need of a paint job, balcony very dirty, with broken furniture, our keys left on a table outside in an envelope with my name on it for anyone to take.
This could be a very nice place to stay but it needs a lot of love and a major upkeep.
We are very disappointed.

The only thing chilling about this place is the lack of heating. There was a thermostat on the wall that didn't do anything. We were given 3 thin blankets, and with the non-existent heater it was a very cold night. The flooring was water damaged and the bathroom was nice but dated.

There is a small low quality TV in the corner, no microwave or refrigerator. The incandescent light bulbs were really helpful in warming the room up though. The coffee maker did a swell job at heating up food too 🙂

Desperately needs an update. Place is very dated and rundown. Most of the things in our room were broken, from the shutters to the sink taps. Service staff is nowhere to be found. Lists as B&B but no breakfast is served. Doesn't answer phone, never at desk. Not worth the price at all. Better cheaper places in the area.

As noted by many others, this hotel is in Great decline. The advertised breakfast has been cancelled, and no credit offered in return. Stated a/c non existent. Fireplace doesn't work. The list goes on. There is No reception, the key just left in an envelope. We never saw a staff person.
On the positive side it was quiet and in a good location.

I am giving this lovely place five stars primarily due to the staff. My mother and I stayed here when my Dad had to have emergency bypass in Redwood City. Our previous motel put us out even though they had rooms due to a Google convention in town. We kept having to extend due to his complications. They not only accommodated us at Zaballa, they helped us stay without having to change rooms which would have been hard on my Mom. The breakfasts were amazing! Fresh fruit of all sorts and a tasty quiche. This is an old B&B so I didn't expect perfection in the rooms. But our rooms were great! They are renovating rooms and we had two that were so nice and had a lovely view of the creek. The upstairs porch was great for having a drink in the evening and people watching. I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I was to them being in a terrible situation. They showed us what home town civility and kindness was just when we needed it desperately. Thank you!

On first entering our room (a suite) at Zaballa House the room looked rather lovely, with a definite Italian flavor to the decor. But on closer inspection, the baseboards were dirty and in dire need of a paint job, there was a hole in the wall next to the bed about the size of a golfball, and a big hole in one of the window screens The windows did not operate in any way that we could fathom, and we had to prop one of the windows open to get some fresh air. It was definitely not worth the price we paid, although it was spacious and had an adequately equipped kitchenette.

I can’t believe no one is talking about the fact that there is no staff here and barely anyone running this place. ||||I came and couldn’t check-in or get in. There was no sign or instructions or note even to say they were away at lunch or what in the world was going on. To get in, I went around the back to a door that was open then into another open door that said “staff only” (unsafe!) to go into the main office where there was no reception staff and seemingly no guests in that main building. I had access to all the keys (unsafe!) and finally after an hour of waiting for someone in the lobby that I had basically broken into, I looked behind the desk and found a phone number of an emergency contact for Dave. I had to call the number twice to get an answer, was told check in was at 3pm which is no where on booking this place via an online portal (by that time it was 2.15pm) and then to top it off a random maintenance staff came from somewhere unknown to help - not the guy I called! Apparently he was upstairs which I had actually shouted “hello” several times when I arrived and got nothing but crickets! This guy didn’t even care that I had basically broken into the place to get service, nor did he apologise for the inconvenience of it all! There is no breakfast and I literally never saw any staff at reception. He told me I can just leave the key in the room. I honestly could have probably just stayed in this place for free for days without anyone noticing. It was the most bizarre one night I’ve ever had at a B&B.||||The room was clean but I didn’t have any bath towels, only hand towels for the shower. The bed is awful. The mattress is so old that it squeaks any time you move. It was also itchy. It may be bed bugs or just the sheets. No breakfast. I’d never stay again. It’s a shame because the place has so much potential and charm with a good location, but it’s run worst than a one star motel in the middle of nowhere. I paid $202 for this crap experience and it was definitely, DEFINITELY not worth the money!!! Avoid!!
